Normally the dns forwarders in routers blow chunks and crash, etc. It will just create a small extra amount of traffic - since all of your machines will be doing queries across the net vs just your router doing them and caching them for the next machine that wants to go to domainB.tld, etc. With the small number of machines you have, you prob would not see any real performance increase from a local caching dns server. Then your wifes machine would resolve it faster. As long as it was within the time of the TTL since your machine had queried it.

Sure they will locally cache that for the time of the ttl. The real advantage of using a local caching nameserver, is that currently you have your machine all going out 4.2.2.2 to look up say.
